Many years ago a Buddhist nun who lived in another monastery in the island escaped rape in the hands of some goons, by jumping into the lagoon, calling for help, she was saved by the boatman who provided transport across the lagoon.
The vociferous monks of the country who supported the ruthless regime of Rajapaksha remain dead silent and would not make any noise or comment over this assassination. If this happened during a different period they would have made havoc over this death. This is the type of culture that the present regime has created in the country.
