The number of dengue cases reported from Sri Lanka has exceeded 55000.
Accordingly, the Dengue Control Unit, the total number of dengue cases
reported in the country is 55049 as of today.
So far, 52 dengue high risk areas have been identified and the number
of deaths due to dengue disease has increased to 36.
Although 9696 cases of dengue were reported in the month of May and it
has gradually decreased in the months of June and July, the Dengue
Control Unit points out.
In June, 9916 dengue cases and 5729 cases in July have been reported.
However, the highest number of patients is reported from the Gampaha
district and the figure is 11929.
The Dengue Control Unit said a total number of dengue cases reported
from the Western Province is 27,315, with 11,833 reported from the
Colombo district and 3,553 from the Kalutara district. 3841 patients
have been reported from Kandy district, 2869 patients from the
Puttalam district, 2,226 patients from Rathnapura district and 2210
patients from Kegalle district.
