On the day the French President came to Katunayake, the President’s<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Secretary became the gate keeper<\/p>\n\n\n\n
French President Emmanuel Macron came and departed from Katunayake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There he met President Ranil Rajapakse and the meeting was just an<\/p>\n\n\n\n
incident. But to the president’s media unit the French President’s<\/p>\n\n\n\n
visit to Sri Lanka seems like a great treasure. But despite the French<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President wandering into Sri Lanka and had a cup of tea, the country<\/p>\n\n\n\n
did not receive any benefit from him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, a high-ranking administrative officer told us a strange<\/p>\n\n\n\n
incident happened in the Katunayake airport. When a head of state or a<\/p>\n\n\n\n
diplomatic official comes to Sri Lanka, he is introduced to the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
officials of Sri Lanka, according to the protocol and the introduction<\/p>\n\n\n\n
should start from those who are at the top of the hierarchy. However,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in introducing the French President to government officials, the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President has bypassed the tradition of protocol in this country and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
introduced the President’s Chief of Staff, Sagala Ratnayake, who is<\/p>\n\n\n\n
behind the protocol before the President’s Secretary, Saman Ekanayake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps the President has meant that “His beloved Sagala” is above the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President’s Secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, another wonderful incident happened there. The<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President also introduced a young boy who is not related to the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President’s staff to the French President. When we checked who is this<\/p>\n\n\n\n
young boy, we came to know that he is not a state official but has<\/p>\n\n\n\n
been provided with STF protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
France is a country that has legalized gay marriages. It is doubtful<\/p>\n\n\n\n
whether President Ranil Rajapaksa proudly indicated his sexual desire<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to the French President despite the protocol. But we feel sad, at that<\/p>\n\n\n\n
time, the highest administrative officer in the country, President<\/p>\n\n\n\n
