Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s judicial reform bill has reportedlybeen passed by a 0-64 majority amid public protests against theSupreme Court’s power to overturn unjust government actions.

The reform has sparked the biggest protests in Israel’s history, withopponents warning that it endangers Israel as a democracy and is the first in a series of tough reforms aimed at curbing the courts’ powers.

The government had stated in this regard that this step was taken tobalance the imbalance of power due to the increasing interference ofthe judiciary in political decisions in recent decades.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid boycotted the controversial judicialreform, calling the move a takeover of the Israeli majority by aextreme minority.

With the passage of this bill, the protesters who protested betweenthe court and the parliament were pulled off the roads by the policeusing water cannons and one protester was injured and six people were
