On the 5th of the last Parliamentary Assembly, Samagi Jana Balavega MP Mujibur Rahman revealed several important facts about the Easter bomb attack.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There he stated<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHonourable Chairman, I would like to draw your attention to the following. Now the Easter bombing case has started to be heard.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Now the first witness here is Professor Rohan Gunaratna. The second witness is Nilantha Jayawardena. He is a person who has been found guilty by the Presidential Commission. He has deleted the information he received regarding the Easter bombing. Because of this, the Presidential Commission has proceeded with his name as an accused.\u00a0 However, the Attorney General’s Department has made him a witness. Why ..what\u2019s the reason to make him a witness? That is the question we have.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The next question we must ask from the Attorney General’s Department is especially about Professor Rohan Gunaratna. Dear Chairman, Professor Rohan Gunaratna is a person who goes for money and gives advice in one place or another. Then how did he become a witness? What is his connection with the Easter bombing? Is he an investigation officer? He is an expert; he only can give his opinion. There are plenty of such experts. When Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa came into power, Professor Gunarathna was appointed as an advisor to the Ministry of Defence and made him a witness. That witness was made for nothing else.\u00a0 We know that many facts have now come out about the Easter attack.\u00a0 By using Professor Gunaratna, they are trying to turn this into a different direction to cover up those facts. That means everyone knows that this is an extremist act.\u00a0 Again, there is nothing strange to say. But it is important to find out the persons who gave the political space to Saharans to do this, who sat behind this, supported Saharans, who gave them the raw materials and technical support to detonate the bombs. Everyone needs to be found. They are trying to finish this game without looking for the mastermind.\u00a0 That is why we are saying that Professor Rohan Gunaratna was brought into the scene to take this subject to another direction. There are more witnesses and investigation officers who can produce as witnesses instead of Professor Gunarathna.\u00a0 Why were Shani Abeysekara and Ravi Seneviratne not made as witnesses?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The President also knows that they are the ones who discovered most of the facts in this bombing. But the Attorney General’s Department did not make them as witnesses. Why? What’s the reason behind this?\u00a0 You may have seen the affidavit submitted by Shani Abeysekera to the court and the facts that he has mentioned in it. Those facts are good enough to catch the mastermind.\u00a0 Then the Attorney General’s Department knowingly turned this in another direction and did not name as witnesses, the \u00a0actual officers who investigated this issue. This is a crime. I would like to say, Mr. Chairman, especially now that this case has been assigned with 23000 charges. There are places where these investigations are not completed. Did they finish Saharan\u2019s investigation? No, Saharan\u2019s investigation was not finished. They were trying to finish it. They did three DNA tests saying that Saharan was dead. They tried to rule out that Saharan was dead. However, the Investigations about Saharan\u2019s are not over yet. Next\u2026., has Podi Saharan’s investigation been completed? That is also not finished which was the reason behind the case being filed initially.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Next\u2026, Sonic Sonic, our Mr. Harin Fernando died at that time called Sonic Sonic. Now Harin Fernando is also with Sonic. That’s the true story. He used to shout Sonic Sonic all the time. Now he has gone and joined Sonic Sonic. Are investigations of \u00a0Sonic finished? No.. that also is not finished yet.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Next, another important matter is that on April 5, 2019 at 11.30 pm, a lorry was stopped at Galanigama exit for checking. However, that lorry was released by the police constable who was manning that check point, after receiving a call from one of the Senior Police Officers(then).<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the police constable’s answer, in his words \u201cthat Senior Police Officer informed me to release that particular truck. There was a V8 vehicle in front of that truck and occupants of that vehicle only called the police officer. There was another truck passed without stopping at the check point\u201d. According to the investigation report, it is suspected that those two lorries brought the explosives to the safe house of Saharan in Panadura. That is the true story. Honourable Chairman, that investigation also was not completed.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Now all those investigations have been stopped and only Saharan’s supporters have been arrested and filed cases against them. There are 23000 chargers.\u00a0 Saharan’s wife is the best example. She was brought to the Presidential Commission and questioned only for a few days.\u00a0<\/span>That investigation also did not continue with her oral answer. Why it has not been continued?\u00a0 The evidence was concluded stating that she was found Covid-19 positive. Reason behind that was, they were scared about her evidence as unnecessary things would come out of her mouth. Now she is there\u2026.. What is the reason that she is not named as a witness?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

When going through the oral answers given by Saharan’s wife, it was noted that she knows a lot of information on this incident. When we look at the oral answers she gave in front of the Presidential Commission, there are a lot of important facts, However, she is not named as a witness. We have a doubt about this.\u00a0 This is a very serious issue. This bomb was exploded when the current President was occupying as the Prime Minister. When those bombs were exploded, we were accused including the government ruling at that time. Also, Members of this council have accused us and did not even want to sit with us.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The entire Muslim society became accused, and it became impossible to go down the street. I personally had to change my child’s school because the child said, \u201cI can’t go to school and the children make fun of me, father\u201d. That is why we say that justice should be done for this. We cannot let this be a hidden issue.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This is fabricated by the Attorney General’s Department and some of the parties involved in this issue. That’s why the Attorney General’s Department is not bringing in real witnesses and trying to bring people like Rohan Gunaratna as witnesses, who work for money.\u00a0 Furthermore, they are trying to accuse Saharan’s team and finish the case.\u00a0 Dear Mr. President, we are waiting till you bring the Scotland Yard, as you promised to do so when you come to power.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Honourable President, when you were the Prime Minister, you were also seriously accused, and we were unable to face this issue. We became very helpless. It also main reason for us to lose the election, where the opposition completely based their election campaign based on this Easter bomb attack.\u00a0 That is why you are here as the president today.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, you have a responsibility to find out the truth of this issue. I strongly believe that according to your conscience, you know who is behind this case. Because, when we were in the government, we have been discussing many things with you. That’s why we are telling you not to let this hide. We need to find out about this. Please bring Scotland Yard as soon as possible. If not, we may lose important witnesses. I am saying this for a reason.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Hope you can remember Saman Weerasinghe, the police officer, who went to find Saharan. At the end of the day, that police officer\u2019s death is a mystery. Said police officer finally brought to Colombo and burned the dead body saying that he died due to Covid. But it was a mystery. That officer found out many facts.\u00a0 We may lose living evidence like that. Even Saharan’s wife. Because she is the only person today who knows a lot of facts about this. According to the evidence she gave in front of the Presidential Commission, we can see that she knows a lot of facts. But the Attorney General’s Department forgot to make Saharan’s wife as a witness and remembered only Rohan Gunaratna as witness.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We know about Rohan Gunaratna. He is a man who goes to different countries and works for a salary. One day he is in Singapore, one day he is in Canada. Once he went to Canada and made a false accusation against a Tamil organization and was ordered to pay a fine of 50000 Canadian dollars by the Canadian court. With all these, he was named as the first witness. What nonsense is this?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, in the presence of the President, we especially request you to bring the Scotland Yard as soon as possible and I conclude my few words by saying that it is the responsibility of all of us to find the real mastermind behind the crime by using Saharans as pawns to take power in this country\u201d.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
